Silver Sunday No.5 and the War...

It was WWII 1945 and dad was in the Navy stationed in Nicaragua.  His best friend in the service had a cute little sister back home in Illinois.  He'd had his eye on her for awhile and sent her this silver jewelry set in the handmade box he had made.  Dad was discharged in 1947 and asked the "cute" little sister out on a double date with his friend.  She graduated on a Wednesday night back in May of 1947, and they were married on the Sunday afterward.  June 1, 2010, they will be married 63 years!  They're the young couple in my blog header.

When asked for words of wisdom on their long marriage they both agreed that their love for the Lord has been the firm foundation!

Rainbows and Recovery

DH came through his open heart surgery with flying colors...PTL!  I was thinking of a rainbow after a storm earlier and thought the vintage tobacco cards were fitting.  The surgery was originally to be six hours and ended up three!  The mitro valve was repaired...four days in the hospital and released in a blizzard!  I'm thinking as we're going down the interstate..."this is more dangerous than the actual surgery".  Three months of recovery and he should be back to his usual "sweet self".  And as Dorothy said, "there's no place like home...there's no place like home!

So Glad to Be Back!

Red Felted Heart.. Surgery and Trust...

Little did I know when I started Red Felted Heart that I would be blogging about my DH's having to have open heart surgery.

Last week we found out that his mitro valve is not working properly and that he would have to have surgery to repair.  We still consider ourselves newlyweds at three years of marriage.

We both have been married before, but we did not have Christian marriages.  We are thankful that we had a pure relationship before marriage and that we both know whom we can trust through this storm.  My DH and I met in church singing on our praise team.  We sing together alot for fun at home and this is a song we've sang alot while waiting on God and surgery...
