Silver Sunday No.5 and the War...

It was WWII 1945 and dad was in the Navy stationed in Nicaragua.  His best friend in the service had a cute little sister back home in Illinois.  He'd had his eye on her for awhile and sent her this silver jewelry set in the handmade box he had made.  Dad was discharged in 1947 and asked the "cute" little sister out on a double date with his friend.  She graduated on a Wednesday night back in May of 1947, and they were married on the Sunday afterward.  June 1, 2010, they will be married 63 years!  They're the young couple in my blog header.

When asked for words of wisdom on their long marriage they both agreed that their love for the Lord has been the firm foundation!

  5. I'm glad your husband is doing well. I love this story of your parents. My parents will celebrate 62 years in July and they give credit to God too, (and a good sense of humor).
    Blessings,
